GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Rowe International, manufacturer of bill changers headquartered here, and Merit Entertainment, a touch-screen game manufacturer in Bristol, Pa., have announced plans to integrate their production and workforces. These changes are intended to reduce overhead and allow both companies to better serve customers with more cost-competitive products by controlling costs and increasing efficiencies.
Rowe and Merit will operate under a single, consolidated management team. Rowe will shift manufacturing from Grand Rapids to Reynosa, Mexico, on the Texas-Mexico border. Rowe plans to complete this shift in production by the end of 2009.
The shift in production will mean the closing of the Grand Rapids manufacturing facility. Technical phone support, order entry, sales, engineering, accounting and administrative personnel will relocate to a different facility in Grand Rapids later in 2009, the company says.
