PAHRUMP, Nev. — When Heidi Fleiss, once known as the Hollywood Madam, entered the coin laundry business last summer, some had to wonder how long it would be before her full attention would shift to something else, say a sex-related business venture. Some things haven’t changed.
Fleiss still wants to open a brothel in Nye County, Nevada, that would feature male prostitutes serving a female customer base. However, the brothel has not come about yet, and Fleiss is putting in time at Dirty Laundry, her laundry in Pahrump, Nev., a small town about 60 miles west of Las Vegas.
Fleiss says her research showed that competitive pricing and high-extract washers was the way to go. Fluff and fold is only 65 cents per pound.
In addition, the casino-themed laundry features panels from slot machines, wooden tables and ceiling tiles that resemble those found in hotel lobbies. She says this look allows customers to have a little fantasy about winning a jackpot while they are doing their wash.
Fleiss says the laundry has been profitable, while also admitting that her expertise still lies in the sex business.
