BERWYN, Ill. — The World’s Largest Laundromat partnered with Berwyn and Cicero public libraries to award 18 kids with brand new bicycles as part of its Read to Ride program.
In the program, children between the ages of 6 and 15 filled out a raffle ticket for every book they read. Then, on Aug. 16, owner Tom Benson pulled 18 names from a hat, and those chosen went home with new bicycles.
Benson has run this reading program for several years. Hundreds of kids entered thousands of raffle tickets.
“I think we have a responsibility to our customers and community to provide opportunities like this for children,” Benson told Cicero Life. “It’s a great program and it gives us a lot of pride to reward summer reading.”
